Jacques Harel

Chief Executive Officer

Jacques Harel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Studies, University of Westminster, London and is a Chartered Accountant from The Institute of Chartered Accountants  in England and Wales (ICAEW). He has worked several years for De Chazal du Mée, Chartered Accountants, gaining expertise in various economic sectors. He is the Chief Executive Officer of BIRGER. since April 2007, a technology company operating in the Indian Ocean region and East Africa.

Rahman Nabheebucus

Head of SelfService and Payment BU

Having worked with BIRGER. for the past 26 years, Rahman Nabheebucus is currently Head of the SelfService and Payment Business Unit.

After completing his BSC Honours in Computer Science and Operational Research in London in 1982, Rahman joined Hymans Robertson, an actuarial firm,  as a programmer for the development of a Pension Benefit off-the-shelf package.

In October 1985, he returned to Mauritius and joined the National Transport Corporation as a System Analyst for the implementation and the support of the software systems developed and supplied by BIRGER.

Between 1987 and 1990, Rahman was delegated by BIRGER. to the Mauritius Travel and Tourist Bureau for the complete computerization of the Inbound and Outbound divisions.

Since 1990, at BIRGER., Rahman has been involved in the implementation of various projects for the government, agricultural and textiles industries before moving to the Financial sector in 1995. Since, he has mainly been involved in providing Self-Service, POS, Card Management , Switch and Payment solutions to the banks in general, both in Mauritius and  the Indian Ocean islands.

With over 20 years’ experience in the Self-Service industry and related areas, and working closely with our key partners, Rahman has accumulated a wealth of knowledge, allowing him to better manage our Monetique portfolio.

Frederic Ng

Executive – Sales & Operations

Frederic Ng is the Executive – Sales & Operations of BIRGER. He has 15 years of experience in the Information Technology sector.

He graduated from the University of Cambridge, UK, in 2001 with a Masters in Engineering – Electrical and Information Sciences.

Frederic Ng started his career at BIRGER. in 2006, when he joined as a Sales Executive looking after entry-level to mid-range infrastructure solutions mainly based on IBM and EMC hardware.

In 2010, Frederic was appointed as the Head of Sales for the Enterprise Systems and Solutions Business Unit. His focus was to propose high-end solutions to customers and he has been involved in the implementation of a number of key infrastructure projects in the banking sector.

In July 2014, he was promoted to the post of Executive – Sales & Operations to oversee the overall operations of BIRGER. He also manages the relationship with customers and vendors with whom he worked closely during his time at the Enterprise Systems and Solutions Business Unit.

Parwez Bhugalee

Executive - Marketing and Business Development for BIRGER

Parwez Bhugalee is a graduate from the University of Cape-Town, holding a BSc Degree in Engineering with specialization in Telecommunications and Electronics. He is also a certified Project Manager and holder of a Management and Leadership certificate.

Having started his career outside of Mauritius as a junior Systems Engineer, Parwez worked for 3 years in overseas markets before joining BIRGER. in 2003.

Between 2003 and 2007, he worked as a Project Leader and eventually as a Project Manager, handling and supporting specific projects with the appropriate teams.

Between 2007 and 2014, his career path took him to a management role in the Enterprise Systems and Solutions business unit and the Head of BIRGER. Technology and Services division to develop our solutions offerings on the local and regional market. During that time, his responsibilities also included the strategic relationship management with Symantec to develop our portfolio of offerings in the security sphere.

As from July 2014, Parwez has been promoted to the role of Executive - Marketing and Business Development of the company with a strategic focus on the development of our business in East Africa.

Michael Perrine

Head of Security Solutions BU

Michael Perrine is Head of Security Solutions Business unit.

He has studied at Technical school St Gabriel and holds a “brevet” in the electronic field.

Michael started his career with BIRGER. since 2000.

Between 2000 and 2009, he worked as field technician in the bureautique workshop providing support on various types of equipment like photocopying machines, mailing solutions, queuing systems, cameras and time & attendance system to various sectors. He has been trained overseas and certified on security products and Entrust Datacard card printing solutions.

In 2010, Michael was promoted as Sales and technical support where he was in charge of the field technicians and also commercialized most of the bureautique solutions. In 2012, Michael was given the responsibility to market and sell the Entrust Datacard solutions and his technical team implemented various projects in the financial and government sectors.

In 2015, Michael became Head of Security Solutions Business Unit at BIRGER.

Pascal Pigeot

Head of Network Operations Centre BU

Pascal Pigeot is the Head of Network Operations Centre, BIRGER.

He is a graduate of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry holding a BTS in Information Technology and an MBA Degree in Law, Economics and Management from the I.A.E. of Poitiers.

Pascal started his career in BIRGER., back in 2001.

Between 2001 and 2014, he worked as a Product Manager for Mid-range Systems and Virtualisation platforms, marketing global brands as IBM, EMC, and Vmware. 

In 2010 Pascal took responsibility of the maintenance contracts management for the Enterprise Systems and Solutions business unit.

In 2013, he served as Sales Representative for Seychelles at BIRGER. Indian Ocean.

In 2014, he was promoted as Head of BIRGER. Managed Solutions, to manage a team of call centre operators and to manage the after-sales service for BIRGER. IT Store Business Unit, Self Service and Payment Business Unit, and Business Systems and Solutions Business Unit.

In 2015, Pascal became Head of the BIRGER. Network Operations Centre in Phoenix, Mauritius.

Pressley Pavaday

Head of Business Systems and Solutions BU

Pressley Pavaday is Head of Business Systems and Solutions.

He is a graduate of the University of Mauritius holding a BEng (Hons.) Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Pressley started his career with BIRGER. since 2002.

Between 2002 and 2007, he worked as Electronics Engineer in the Field Engineering department providing Support and Consultancy to all the leading Banks in the country. He was responsible to equip the majority of local Banks with electronic cheque processing systems. He has been trained and certified on high speed transports from NCR and on high end Datacard systems.

In 2007, Pressley joined the Professional Services team as Software Engineer and Consultant in Payment Systems. Pressley was responsible of a number of critical projects and developed an end to end solution for cheque truncation in Mauritius. He has been very active in software development, Business Intelligence and integration for critical businesses.

In 2015, Pressley became Head of Business Systems and Solutions and is also responsible of Research and Development and New Technologies at BIRGER.

Tandeo (Suraj) Gaya

Cyber Defense Center Leader

Tandeo (Suraj) Gaya is the Cyber Defense Center Leader at BIRGER.

He holds a broad number of Professional Certifications from multiple vendors like Microsoft, IBM, Symantec, EMC and NetApp.

Prior to coming to BIRGER., Suraj spent three years at a multinational French Hosting company, where he was a Senior Microsoft Systems Administrator. In 2006, Suraj joined the Mauritius Commercial Bank as an Infrastructure Support Engineer after which he was promoted to Systems Engineer in 2008.

In 2010, Suraj joined BIRGER. as Senior Systems Engineer in the Enterprise Systems and Solutions Business Unit. He was responsible for providing infrastructure solutions, project management and support related to customers‘ core server, storage, and backup as well as disaster recovery systems.

Between mid-2012 and 2015, Suraj assumed roles of Senior Pre-Sales Engineer, Technical Lead and Business Development providing infrastructure solutions and managing projects for multiple customers across the Indian Ocean region and East Africa.

As from December 2015, Suraj was appointed as the Cyber Defense Center Leader of BIRGER. and is responsible for overseeing strategic pre-sales and operations around the Cyber Security Services offered by BIRGER. He is also responsible of a team of Security Analysts who are responsible for the monitoring of customer security and handling security incidents.

Vikash Venkiah

Head of Enterprise Systems and Solutions BU

Vikash Venkiah is Head of BIRGER Business Unit, Enterprise Systems and Solutions (ESS).

He is a graduate of the University of Mauritius holding a BSC in Physics with Electronics.

Vikash started his career with BIRGER. since 2005.

Between 2005 and 2009, he worked as System Engineer in the ESS department providing Support for Microsoft, Symantec, IBM, VMware technologies. He was responsible for installation, configuration and support for the various IT infrastructure projects within Mauritius and in the regional island such as Seychelles.

Between 2010 and 2013, he worked as Senior System Engineer in ESS and he was responsible to supervise the projects for ESS and coach the junior Engineers.

In 2014, Vikash was promoted as a Pre-Sales Engineer where he worked closely with his customers by advising them for new technologies in the market and the best solution for their environment.

In 2015, Vikash became Head of Enterprise Systems and Solutions.

Kavish Dussoye

Technical Lead and Assistant Head of Enterprise Systems and Solutions BU

Kavish Dussoye is Technical Lead and Assistant Head of Enterprise Systems and Solutions (ESS) Business Unit of BIRGER..

He is a graduate of the Université des Mascareignes holding a DUST in Information Technology and also and MSc Holder in Business Information Technology from Middlesex University London.

Kavish started his career with BIRGER. since 2009.

Between 2009 and 2013, he worked as Systems Engineer in the ESS department providing Professional Services for EMC, VMware, IBM, Microsoft, Symantec technologies. He was responsible for installation, configuration and support for the various IT infrastructure projects within Mauritius and in the regional island such as Seychelles.

In 2014, Kavish was promoted as a Pre-Sales Senior Systems Engineer where he worked closely with his customers by advising them for new technologies in the market and the best solution for their environment. He was also responsible to mentor and coach the junior Engineers.

In 2015, Kavish became Technical Lead and Assistant Head of Enterprise Systems and Solutions.

Michael Davies

Chief Executive Officer ContinuitySA

RESILIENCY - 28 November 2017

Michael Davies has been involved in the Resilience & Business Continuity Industry for more than 14 years, having spent several years in the IT Industry with companies such as Dimension Data, Enterprise Technologies, Amdahl, Computer Configurations and MGX. Michael has spent his earlier years on the financial side of business with the progression in 2011 being from financial director to CEO of ContinuitySA.

He has spoken on Resilience and Business Continuity Management (BCM) at various conferences and heads up the largest independent BCM supplier in Africa.

While at the helm of ContinuitySA, the company has won numerous prestigious awards including being inducted into the Global Business Continuity Institute Hall of Fame after winning the Continuity and Resilience Provider award for Africa for 3 consecutive years. In addition, the Continuity and Resilience Consulting team award has been won twice in succession.

Michael completed a B.comm degree from the University of Natal (South Africa) and a MBA from the Henley College in the UK. He is an affiliate of the Business Continuity Institute based in London and a member of the Institute of Directors.

Dan Faugoo

General Manager ContinuityMauritius

Dan Faugoo joined BIRGER. in January 2017 as General Manager of Continuity Mauritius Co Ltd.

He has more than 25 years of experience in the IT field, having previously held a number of key positions with high-profile organisations in both the private and public sector.

This included Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays Bank Plc and the National Computer Board of Mauritius where he most recently served as Executive Director.

Dan holds a Degree in Computer Science from the University of Paris VIII – France and an MSc in Business Systems Analysis and Design from City, University  of London – UK.

He is also a Certified ITIL Service Manager and a Chartered Fellow (FBCS CITP) of the British Computer Society.

Vishal Soobana

Business Development Executive

Vishal Soobana joined ContinuityMauritius in May 2016 as Business Development Executive.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the Sales & Marketing, having worked in many fields from FMCG through sales of vehicles, Freight and forwarding, to IT and Telecommunication. Vishal has experience in various sales, Technical, Management and business development roles for both local and international companies.

Vishal holds qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK and the Telecoms Academy. He has also been trained for the Complete Continuity Practitioner Programme by ContinuitySA (Pty) Ltd.

Vishal enjoy social works and is an active management member of a non-governmental organisation engaged in complementary education to children in need.

Sanjay Ramkalawon

Recovery Centre Manager

Sanjay Ramkalawon is a professional with more than 20 years of experience in the ICT sector, possesses the technical expertise and competencies in the management of Data Centre operations, Telecommunications services, off-site IT Disaster Recovery services and Business Continuity planning. Having started his career in the mid-1990s, after joining the leading telecommunications operator and service provider to the island of Mauritius. A versatile individual with a proven track record for having successfully managed the setup of the complex technical environments of the Data Centre of a start-up in the IT Disaster Recovery services.
 
He joined ContinuityMauritius Ltd in Feb 2012 as Recovery Centre Manager, and at all times he abides to good corporate governance and adherence to Corporate IT and Business Continuity policies and procedures, including the development of additional controls as required by the contract for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing and service provision.
 
Sanjay is a professional who always thirst for knowledge in the complex global commercial environment. Having earned an MSc in Computer Networking with Distinction and a BSc in Business Information Systems. He is also a certified member of the Business Continuity Institute based in London and holds valid professional certifications as the PMP, the PECB certified ISO 22301 Lead Implementer and a certificate in telecommunications technology from the City and Guilds of London Institute, UK.

Ken has over 20 years of experience with enterprise solutions for managing, analyzing and acting on data. His approach with emphasis on a "startup" method for managing and growing businesses has helped leading global organizations become data driven businesses.

Originally from the great state of Maine, he has adopted Dubai and Africa has his home for the past 6 years and is learning from and influencing the trends shaping data analytics in MEA.

Ken has an Engineering degree, MBA and Advanced Management training from global tier 1 universities.

Tony Mancini

Business Unit Executive Competitive Databases

TECHNOLOGY - 29 November 2017

Tony has been in the IT Industry for 39 years. He spent the first 18 with Unisys in various field sales and sales management positions. He had a three-year international assignment in the Pacific Asia Americas Division before transferring to Atlanta as the Regional Sales Manager for the south in 1993.

In 1995, he left Unisys to become the Southeast Regional VP for an SAP reseller where he remained for 3 years. Prior to joining IBM Tony spent six (6) years at Oracle as the Southeast US Regional Sales Manager.

For the last 13+ years Tony has been the WW Competitive Sales Leader for Oracle competitive DB take-outs. He recently was promoted to a Business Unit Executive position with responsibility for WW Enterprise accounts. Tony also helps customers to evaluate their Oracle sales agreements and suggest ways to lower support costs and gain more control in contract negotiations. He also performs product and pricing comparisons, shows customers how to get better software utilization on alternative hardware platforms, and provide lower cost solutions to Oracle.

Tony has provided guidance to over 200 large corporations globally over the past 6 years.

Reaching back on his Oracle Experience, Tony was asked to create and launch what is arguably the most significant Oracle Attack campaign in IBM’s history. The play, launched at the end of March 2017 has already made waves throughout the company and the Industry.

Daryl Rivet

Territory Manager - English Speaking Africa, Symantec AGC.

SECURITY - 29 November 2017

Daryl Rivet is the Territory Manager for English Speaking African countries, including East Africa, West Africa, Southern Africa and Indian Ocean Islands for Symantec. In this role, he is responsible for overall sales and strategic market management across the territory, while driving new business growth in the commercial and enterprise segments.

Prior to this role, Daryl served as commercial and Channel manager for Africa looking after the channel of partners and ensure growth of revenue and competencies within the Symantec African channel of partners.

Before joining Symantec in January 2013, Daryl worked with the company for seven years through a channel distribution partnership. Daryl has 14-years experience in various sales, Technical, operations and business development roles for both local and international companies.

Outside of work, Daryl enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

He holds a BSc in Electronics & Computer Science, an MSc in Computer Security & Forensics and a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership. He has 7+ years record in the ICT industry in Mauritius and has designed and implemented the IT infrastructure for the top companies across the island.

Djamil Jaddoo

Channel Manager for English Speaking Africa, Symantec

He is a graduate of the University of Mauritius holding a BSc Degree in Business Informatics.

Djamil is the Channel Manager for English Speaking Africa. He oversees the relationship with the channel partners and his role consists of ensuring achievement of revenue targets and competencies as well as to develop new markets and establish business relationships in assigned territories. He joined Symantec in September 2016 as Cyber Security Specialist engaging and presenting the value proposition and benefits of the Symantec Managed Security Services to senior and executive management.

He started his career in 2002. He spent three years at Call Services, a subsidiary of Mauritius Telecom, between 2002 and 2005, where he acted as administrator for the Computer telephony Integrated systems.

He has worked several years at Birger. where he held several positions. In 2005, he joined as Support Engineer and from 2010, he served as Head of Network & Security Business unit for a period of 5 years and in 2015 was appointed as Head of Birger. Technology. During his tenure, as part of his responsibililty, was business development in the Indian Ocean Islands and Africa.

Jean Vincent Staub

CEO DCDM Research

Jean Vincent holds two Master degrees in Economics and Entrepreneurship. He has 25 years of experience in the research field and has directed numerous assignments and large scale surveys in the economic, marketing, social and health fields, for various multinationals, large groups, private sector institutions and governmental agencies, in the Indian Ocean Islands (Mauritius, Reunion, Madagascar and Comoros) and many African countries (Botswana, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Lesotho, Mozambique, Malawi, Namibia, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia). These consultancies covered consumption patterns and purchasing behaviour, distribution networks, consumer market trends, customer satisfaction measurements, regional trade, sectoral surveys and social research.

Jean Vincent is the CEO of DCDM Research since 2007. He is an active member of ESOMAR (European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research), SAMRA (Southern African Marketing Research Association), PAMRO (Pan African Media research Organisation) and APM (Association pour le Progrès du Management).

Stéphanie Tranquille

Senior Manager DCDM Research

Stéphanie holds a MBA from the University of Mauritius. As a Senior Manager within DCDM Research, she manages all the different research processes from survey design to reporting ensuring that Client requirements are met at each phase. She has experience in the full spectrum of Research, from market to social research, combining qualitative, quantitative and market intelligence.

Stéphanie has full-fledged knowledge of the financial sector in Mauritius and has managed a number of research projects for large commercial banks as well as leasing companies in Mauritius. Over the years, she has acquired extensive experience in the field of brand audit, brand image surveys as well as satisfaction survey.

Her clients cover a variety of industries including banking, media, FMCG, donor agencies, educational institutions, NGOs, government agencies and real estate. The diversity of clients has allowed Stephanie to carry out a variety of complex surveys including complex questionnaires, multi stage random sampling procedures, segmentation studies and baseline studies.
