BIRGER. holds SUMM’IT 2016
The SUMM’IT 2016, held at BIRGER.’s new Technology Operation Centre in Phoenix, will end today after four days of discussion on cybersecurity and banking solutions. The opening of the summit on Monday 12 September was carried out in the presence of the minister of technology, communication and innovation, Etienne Sinatambou, and Jacques Harel, chief executive officer of BIRGER.
Sinatanbou said that events like these are positive for the country. “This initiative by BIRGER. to organise a conference is in line with the strategy of the government to promote the sector of technology, communication and innovation,” he said. “It will change the offers to Mauritius on the international scene as well as create new jobs for young computer specialists.”
Harel argued that the summit was ideal to exhibit the new solutions proposed by BIRGER. “SUMM’IT 2016 is the first edition and is consistent with the strategy to present our technological innovations to our clients in Mauritius, in the Indian Ocean and in Africa,” he said. Harel also highlighted the opening of the Technology Operation Centre, which ultimately aims to operate 24/7 with 200 members of staff. BIRGER. also announced the setting up of a Centre for Cyber Defence, in partnership with Symantec.
