COVID-19: Curfew in Mauritius as from 23 March 2020 to 2 April 2020
The Government of Mauritius has issued a Government Notice No. 512 of 2020 for a curfew order whereby no person shall remain outdoors in Mauritius as from 23 March 2020 at 20:00 until 2 April 2020 at 20:00, unless a special permit is issued by the Commissioner of Police. This order obviously applies to all BIRGER. employees who will not be allowed to report to their place of work or intervene at customer sites as from 20:00 this evening, unless they have the necessary permit from the Commissioner of Police.
BIRGER. has already submitted its application for its technical and operational employees for the necessary permits, mentioning that its customers form part of the essential services of Mauritius. We are now waiting for a positive response from the Commissioner of Police.
At BIRGER., we find ourselves in a situation of Force Majeure where we have to roll out our work-from-home plan so that we can maintain the continuity of our services as far as support can be provided remotely. All other support services requiring onsite support will have to be suspended until we receive the permits from the relevant authorities.
